The Darbuka Doumbek is a traditional instrument which used to be made of wood with an animal skin; modern instruments are usually made of cast aluminum covered with vinyl and with a plastic skin.

The Darbuka Doumbek is similar in shape to the other hollow drums used on Passage , but has a much sharper, more percussive attack (a 'snap' rather than a 'thump') and a more metallic overall timbre, as can be heard in the Audio clip
